Saturday off

Wow, a Saturday with nothing to do!!! Amber is getting some rest and Emma and Novalee are playing with their animal zoo. Kurt Logan is sleeping also. Today is a big day, it is General Conference. That is where our Prophet and the Twelve Apostles and other General Authorities speak to us from Salt Lake City, UT. Imagine if Moses or Noah were here on the earth. Wouldn't you want to know what the Lord would want us to do, or tho know? We have two sessions today, a Priesthood session tonight, and two more tomorrow. We can watch it at our Church building live or over the internet. We usually listen to it at home for the simple fact that if all of our kids are with us, no one would hear anything except Novalee saying "Pretzel?".

Very thankful

I am very thankful for my beautiful wife. Last night Kurt-Man decided he wanted to be up until 0330 in the morning and Amber watched him for us so I could teach Seminary in the morning. She always takes on the tough stuff with the children and the amazing thing is she NEVER complains about it. I am a lucky man. Thanks Amber.

My thoughts

Amber and I were talking today about the next set of orders that I will take. I will be up for orders in June and want to go to another Aircraft Carrier or Squadron in Norfolk, Virginia. Its going to be tough going to sea again, not only the drain of the six month deployments, but because I will miss my lovely family. I try and take a positive spin on things, so here is the good that can come out of it: 1) Amber and I can draw closer. Sometimes the tough stuff you gotta go through makes you stronger, not just as individuals but as couples also. We will have phone calls and e-mails, but being without my Queen is going to be really hard to do....

2) I will be able to share the gospel with people that I would never get a chance to otherwise. I love the gospel and I love the change, hope and peace that it has given me, and I really want to share that with others. The early saints had to go on Missions anywhere from two to five years at a time, so six months is quite small compaired to others sacrafices that were made.

3) I will be able to get my family some really cool stuff from all over the world.

I honestly feel that there can come some good from this conflict. I truly feel that as Americans we need to look at the big picture. Look around Iraq, who are it's neighbors? Who would benefit if all the troops left? Where would Iraq be in a month? Wheter we should have gone over there in the first place simply does not matter anymore. It just doesnt. What matters is what we do now, and I feel that there can be good that comes from this conflict. Maybe not in a year or two, but for our children.

I love my family, and just like Moroni stated in the Book of Mormon, we must protect our land, liberty, wives and children. Not just for the moment, or for tomorrow, but for eternity. We need to give our children the best possible future, and I feel that this is a step in the right direction. I am very thankful that I am able to protect my family, and that I have been given this opportunity to serve others.

A new one.......

Today I was coming home from the store and I saw a first. I saw a cop car with its lights flashing and as I passed it I looked over and the cop was out of the car giving someone a ticket. Okay, not that uncommon, but when the person is in one of those motorized wheelchair's and is like, 71 then it is a little strange. Only in Dallas.

Feeling better....ah

We got to see Amber's sister Megan over the weekend - but the curse of "Oklahoma's Okay" once again hit. Everytime Megan comes down someone gets sick. Poor Amber got hit the hardest - but we are better now. I feel so bad because Megan comes all the way down here - to watch TV and knit. Sorry Megs!

Sunday Morning

Church went well and Amber is getting some much needed rest. I got to teach both Sunday School and Elder's Quorum today. Emma and Novalee are up from their nap and Kurt just laid down for his. I will try to keep this updated more often.

March 11th

Just getting ready for church and wanted to do a quick update. Amber is doing well, her hands are really chapped from the cold weather we have been having. We got to go to the Dallas Temple last week and had a wonderful time. That was the first time we were without Kurt and the girls at the same time. We were kinda worried just because we had not been without all of them, but they were wonderful for Sister Cody and Amber and I had a very nice time.

Emma can now count to 100!!! She needs a little help when she gets to the twenty, thirty, etc but she knows her numbers! Novalee is so cute but a little menace. She knows her colors, for the most part and Amber taught her her shapes. Its cute to hear her say "red". She also calls Kurt "kut man". Kurt Logan knows rolls over!!!! He is such a big boy. He is 12 lbs and is a stinker. He is a night owl......but man is he cute!

We are walking together as a family, we are walking about a mile a day, at least we try to. Well, gotta go get Amber up for church. It is a beautiful day outside, I love mornings!!!!!
